We are proud to announce that our work on Portobello America and the Nashville Women’s Rescue Mission has earned two National Excellence in Construction® Eagle Awards, presented during ABC National Convention in Las Vegas on February 26, 2025.
The Excellence in Construction (EIC) Awards recognize the top construction projects in the nation each year, honoring outstanding achievements in areas such as healthcare upgrades, sports complexes, government buildings, and major infrastructure. This year, ABC recognized 96 of the nation’s best projects from 2024, and T.W. Frierson is honored to be among the winners.

Award-Winning Projects
Portobello America (Pre-Engineered Category)
The Portobello America project involved the construction of a nearly 1-million-square-foot porcelain tile manufacturing facility in Baxter, TN. This massive project required precision, innovation, and collaboration to deliver a state-of-the-art pre-engineered metal building with advanced production capabilities. The use of Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) modeling and strategic sequencing allowed us to complete the project efficiently, demonstrating our expertise in large-scale industrial construction.
Nashville Women’s Rescue Mission (Public Service Category)
The Nashville Women’s Rescue Mission project expanded and enhanced services for women experiencing homelessness in Nashville, TN. This project included new bed spaces, family units, and expanded resources to serve the community’s needs. We worked closely with the Mission to secure New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) and sourced in-kind donations to bring this meaningful project to life. The facility now serves as a beacon of hope, offering shelter, resources, and a pathway to stability for hundreds of women in need.

The EIC awards are judged by a panel of industry experts, including representatives from Engineering News-Record, the Design-Build Institute of America, the Smithsonian Institution, and other key organizations in the construction industry.
